These homemade Halloween gummy worms might be one of my favorites in my Trick-or-Treat, but Fruit series!. They’re made with real fruit, gelatin and honey, with blackberry on one end and orange on the other for a fun two-toned Halloween look.

And I have to say—I recipe tested these so many times to get the consistency right. Homemade gummies can easily end up too soft, too firm, or more like Jello than an actual gummy . After plenty of trial and error, this combination gave me the chewy, gummy texture I was looking for while keeping the ingredient list incredibly simple.

My kids think they’re just fun gummy worms. I love that they’re made with fruit + honey.

Homemade Orange & Blackberry Gummy Worms

You can make just one flavor (if you do- the orange is more flavorful!), but combining the blackberry and orange is what gives these worms their extra-spooky look. The deep purple blackberry color paired with the bright orange is perfect for Halloween.

Orange Gummies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup orange juice, divided

  • 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin

  • 3–4 tablespoons honey, depending on how sweet you like them

Directions

Pour 1/4 cup of the orange juice into a small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin over the juice and stir to combine. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to bloom.

Meanwhile, warm the remaining 1/4 cup orange juice in a small saucepan over low heat. You want it warm, but there’s no need to boil it.

Add the bloomed gelatin mixture and honey to the warm orange juice. Stir until everything is completely dissolved and smooth.

Blackberry Gummies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup blackberries

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin

  • 3–4 tablespoons honey

Directions

Blend the blackberries and water until completely smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer to remove the seeds. You should be left with approximately 1/2 cup of blackberry liquid.

From here, follow the same method as the orange gummies.

Pour 1/4 cup blackberry liquid into a bowl, stir in the gelatin and let it bloom for 5 minutes.

Warm the remaining 1/4 cup blackberry liquid on the stove. Add the bloomed gelatin mixture and honey and stir until completely dissolved.

Make Them Two-Toned Gummy Worms

This is where they get really fun.

Using a dropper or small piping tool, partially fill each gummy worm mold with one flavor. Then fill the remaining portion with the second flavor. You don’t have to make them perfect—in fact, letting the blackberry and orange meet at slightly different points makes each worm look a little different.

Place the molds in the refrigerator for about 1 hour, or until the gummies are completely set.

Carefully remove them from the molds and your creepy-crawly Halloween snack is ready!

A Few Tips

Make sure you strain the blackberry mixture well so you don't end up with seeds in your gummies. Also, don't skip blooming the gelatin before warming everything together—that step helps create the smooth, chewy texture.

You can adjust the honey between 3 and 4 tablespoons depending on the sweetness of your fruit and how sweet you want the finished gummies.

These are such a fun one to make ahead for a Halloween party, after-school snack or spooky movie night (make sure to store in the refrigerator). And because the colors come naturally from blackberry and orange juice, they look perfectly Halloween-y without needing any food coloring.

Trick or treat—but make it fruit. 🪱🎃

These spooky homemade gummy worms definitely took a few rounds of recipe testing, but the final chewy texture was worth it.
